Alito Signals Reluctance to Overturn Roe v. Wade

CLICK TO READ: Alito Signals Reluctance to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Or does he? It's hard to say, as one has to read between the lines to determine where Alito really stands. It's pretty much a crap shoot at this point. Until someone actually asks him the million dollar question point blank, "Will you vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade?"--until that question is posed in some form or another and answered directly, we can only guess.

According to this article, after meeting with Alito, several Dems seem to be backing off the idea of a fillibuster. I wish they would all stop talking about fillibusters and nuclear options until the hearings have at least commenced. Such threats are not only premature but serve to get both sides needlessly riled up.

Don't get me wrong; Alito makes me as nervous as a Turkey on Thanksgiving Day, but, frankly, after listening to all the spin from both the right and the left, I'm as confused as ever. So let's all take a deep breath, wait for the January hearings and THEN consider what options are appropriate.

My criteria for fillibuster is simple: If Alito's "interpretations" of the constitution do not err on the side of privacy rights, personal rights, civil rights, women's rights, and and minority rights--all of which the constitution is designed to protect...we should fight his nomination tooth and nail. That's a huge oversimplification, I know, but that's basically my bottom line.
