Bill Clinton Calls Iraq 'Big Mistake'

Unfortunately, according to this article, the only mistake Clinton refers to is the " lack of planning for what would happen after Saddam was overthrown." So, in other words, going to war with iraq was not a mistake. Just the aftermath planning. I beg to differ. GOING TO WAR was a huge mistake. It was a unilateral, pre-emptive strike against a nation that was cooperating with UN weapons inspectors at the time of attack. It was wrong. It was not a war of last resort--which is what Congress voted to give Bush authority to wage--a war as LAST, NOT FIRST, RESORT. The lack of planning for the aftermath of the downfall of Hussein was a secondary mistake, and not, as Clinton asserts, THE mistake.

I voted for Clinton. And if he were running against Bush today, I'd vote for him again. (Who wouldn't?) But I am so disappointed in him since he has left office. He's had the opportunity to stand up for what is right and just and ethical, yet his voice has been largely absent from controvertial debates. I hate to say it, but like so many Dems, Clinton's words are FAR too little, FAR too late, and FAR from what we need.
