I am paying particular attention to the contentious Virginia Governors race in that its results may be a foreshadowing of both the 2006 midterm elections and the 2008 presidential race. Bush's last minute campaign appearance in support of republican Jerry Kilgore makes this race even more of a litmus test for the midterm elections.
