Playing in the Cesspool with Jack
Jack Abramoff's 'Cesspool of Corruption' - Robert Scheer
Cesspool indeed. What I most love is listening to the nimble-numby-brain TV news commentators talking about this as: "politics as usual", or "that's the way it's done in Washington," as if we're just supposed to accept that we are now a third world sewer of political corruption--but, hey, kids--that's OK! 'Cause that's the way it is--and always has been--in Bushington! So keep your friggin' mouths shut 'cause we don't want to rock the Republican Slime Boat too much, lest we go gurgling right down the drain. Heh heh heh--if ya catch our sewer scum drift...
And don'tcha just love that Bush-Cheney didn't make any attempt to return the contributions it received from Abramoff connections until it was finally clear that the guy was goin' down...and--geez, they might go with 'em. Yet, even at that point they decided to return only a fraction of the dirty pelf.
Abramoff, in 2004, was a top fundraiser for Bush's re-election, having raised more than $100,000 for the campaign. We still don't know exactly how much he raised in total, however he told the New York Times in July 2003 (months before official fundraising even started) that he had already raised $120,000 for Bushco. "And I haven't even started making phone calls," the lobbyist told the Times." See: (Ties That Bind? - By Richard Wolffe and Holly Bailey - Newsweek)
Oh well. At least the baseball hat is an improvement -- though maybe not quite as "all American" as the mafia look.
