Al Gets Ready to Gore Bush

According to John Nichols of The Nation, Al Gore is back with a vengeance: He is about to deliver, says Nichols, "what could be not just one of the more significant speeches of his political career but an essential challenge to the embattled presidency of George W. Bush."

Scheduled to deliver this major address Monday in Washington, Gore is anticipated to argue that BushCo has created a "Constitutional crisis" by spying on Americans and abusing their basic liberties without the authorization of Congress or the courts.

Utilizing a well known Rove tactic, the former vice president, who beat Bush by more than 500,000 votes in the 2000 election, will deliver his speech in "a symbolically powerful location: the historic Constitution Hall of the Daughters of the American Revolution."

Better yet, according to Nichols, Gore's speech is expected to fly in the face of the rather uninspired, cautious speeches for which he has often been criticized, and instead go for Bush's jugular, delivering what his aides term as a "'call to arms' in defense of the Bill of Rights and the rule of law in a time of executive excess."

Al Gore for President in 2008 anyone?

I'd love to see Gore win the presidency again. But I've heard that he is happy with his life and has no intentions to run.

However.

What politician hasn't said that before?

Can't wait to hear his speech.

Go get 'em Al! Throw the desk, chair and mic at the bastards!

I'd love to see him win the presidency 'again," too, only this time...it would be nice if he could actually serve as President after winning it. I can't see the Dem. party getting behind him at this point, with Hillary and all, but maybe if a strong grassroot effort supports his candidacy, he can be convinced to run. 'Course if Gore were to run, I just might have to drop out of the race myself...and throw my support behind him. Nothing would make me happier. Go Gore!
