Police Apologize to Cindy. Still No Apology from Bush.

From the New York Times:
"The U.S. Capitol Police dropped charges against activist Cindy Sheehan on Wednesday and apologized for arresting her in the House of Representatives chamber shortly before President Bush's State of the Union address....

'While officers acted in a manner consistent with the rules of decorum enforced by the department in the House Gallery for years, neither Mrs. Sheehan's manner of dress or initial conduct warranted law enforcement intervention,' the statement said...." Read more.

Why should Bush apologize? He didn't do anything. He wasn't even in the room at the time.

Bush allows no one in his public appearances who disagrees with him. Why do you think Sheehan was arrested?

Plus, Cindy's still waiting for a meeting with Bush, who lied to all of us, to our military, to Cindy's son, and to the world about his reasons for going to war -- an illegal war of aggression -- in Iraq.

Cindy Sheehan's son subsequently died in that war. Bush continues to tell us that the war is "honorable." But he won't answer 2 simple questions from Cindy Sheehan, namely, "What exactly is it that makes this war so honorable?" and "If the Iraq war is so honorable, why don't you encourage your own children to serve?" (Not to mention the children of the Congressmen & women who continue to support this dispicable war--I don't see them in uniform.)

If you can't see why Cindy Sheehan deserves an apology from Bush ... maybe you ought to read up on exactly what this administration is doing in our names. Torture, clandestine prisons, you name it--it ain't pretty. And it all flies in the face of everything good this country once stood for.

Maybe you're more comfortable watching as one by one, all of your constitutional rights go right out the window. So far, our 1st and 4th amendment rights are no more.

What exactly have YOU done for this country? I don't see you fighting in Iraq. If you believe in the war so much, why don't you enlist and put your body where your mouth is?

Ahh. But it's so much easier to criticize those who have already sacrificed for this country, isn't it, while you sit in front of your computer passing judgement on others like some perverse god.
