Tierney Gets an "F"

In John Tierney's NY Times op ed Spinning a Bad Report Card, he desperately attempts to spin the evidence in the debate over "Which is better: public or private school education?" to his own political ends.

Sorry, Johnny-Boy, you flunked the test. With notable exceptions, the answer is neither, and the entire public vs. private debate is a waste of time.

As I have written previously, American schools in general are abysmal. The entire system, from curriculum to teaching methods to rules of tenure, needs an extreme makeover. Any debate over private vs. public schools or vouchers vs. no vouchers is sloughing over the reality that, whoever wins, we all lose -- until we attack the problem from the inside out and actually attempt to solve it.
