Unfortunately, anyone who contributes to the distraction from the war in Iraq is helping the President maintain control this November.

By the way, I heard that mortally wounded soldiers are being life-flighted out of Iraq so that their deaths occur elsewhaere and, thus, don't increase the "Iraq/Afghanistan" death count. I have no way of checking.
Joe, while I agree Iraq -- and it's accompanying pre-emptive war strategy -- is a crucial issue, I do not agree that it is the only issue. The fact that our rights are systematically being taken away, that our government is beyond corrupt and unaccountable to the American people, that our election system is anything but secure, that our government is promoting torture, secret prisons, unlawful courts and prosecutions, that the media is no longer accountable to the American people -- I could go on, but you get the point -- these are equally important issues. Without finding a way to make our "elected" officials accountable to the people's will, we will be involved in untold more wars and atrocities. These issues are the most serious this country has faced in modern times, and ending the war in Iraq depends on our ability to hold those responsible for waging an illegal war responsible -- which will not happen unless people are aware of the fact that BushCo is essentially turning this country into a fascist state with the complicity of the Senate, the House, the Judiciary and the media.

Sorry to have not been clear. The supporters of Bush hear nothing once he is permitted the offense (double entendre intended). They were becoming seriously concerned about the Iraq war, but, based on the 5 recent points improvement in his polls, I have got to say that any other issue permits him to frighten people into supporting him.
This country desparately needs a democrat controlled house and senate. Permitting the president to choose the discussion points prevents that possibility.
As you know, my personal feeelings are that there is nothing more important for this country than to find the real criminals of 911. But, I am amazed at how many people who are anti-bush are unwilling to consider that anyone other than the OBL was responsible. I really am flabbergasted (?) by my fellow sheep!
Some are actually unwilling to look at the pictures of the cut columns from the WTC.
