Scarborough's Bush Defection

My hat is off to Joe Scarborough. An admitted pro-Bush Republican, he tries to approach issues more fairly than his more ideological cohorts.

He's a guy who strives to think for himself -- and what he's thinking these days is that Bush, if he were a Democrat, would be facing impeachment by an enraged Republican party right now.
SCARBOROUGH:"Well, this is uncharted territory. And Josh Green, I want you, if you will, to imagine, how would Republicans have responded if President Bill Clinton had ignored the advice of all of his Joint Chiefs, his top general in the war zone, his former secretary of state, and 80 percent of Americans? Is it not a stretch to say that many Republicans would have considered impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton if this situation were identical?"
Crooks & Liars' Jamie Holly quite accurately describes Scarborough's conversion:
"Scarborough has made a definite turn-around on Bush over the past year, but it hasn't been as evident as it was on Wednesday's Scarborough Country. Joe appears to be totally fed up with the non-stop spin and ignorance coming from the White House and Bush's press conference apparently put the final nail in that coffin."

Mike Barnicle, who appeared during the segment, was vociferous in his disdain for Bush's latest shenanigans, calling Bush "delusional," "isolated" and in danger of putting more lives in peril.

It was reassuring that both Scarborough and Barnicle made no attempt to hold back their obvious dismay over Bush's non-handling, man-handling, glad-handing, and bad-handling of the war in Iraq.

It's high time they did. To quote Mike Barnicle, "This president—this is dangerously close to a delusion that is going to result in death and carnage for years to come in the Middle East to many Americans and to many people in the Middle East."

IMPEACH!
