Given the one-sided, propagandized, mainstream US media, it is incumbent upon each of us to seek out the other side of the Israel/Lebanon story in a quest for fairness, and, ultimately, truth. The following articles present views and facts often conveniently missing from other sources. I highly recommend them:
- Noam Chomsky on Israel, Lebanon and Palestine
Do you agree with the argument that Israel's military offensive in Lebanon is "legally and morally justified?" - Noam Chomsky: The invasion itself is a serious breach of international law, and major war crimes are being committed as it proceeds. There is no legal justification.
- Israel, Oil and the "planned demolition" of Lebanon By Mike Whitney
Israel’s dominance requires that its neighbors endure abject poverty and oppression. By destroying the infrastructure and life-support systems, Israel hopes to eliminate the rise of a potential rival as well as to diminish the ability of the Lebanese resistance to wage war against the Jewish state.
- This draft shows who is running America's policy... Israel By Robert Fisk
You could almost hear the Lebanese groan at this draft resolution, a document of such bias and mendacity that a close Lebanese friend read carefully through it yesterday, cursed and uttered the immortal question: "Don't these bastards learn anything from history?"
- UN Resolution By Jonathan Cook in Nazareth
The top adviser to the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, talked through the resolution with the US and French teams, while the Israeli Foreign Ministry had its man alongside John Bolton at the UN building in New York.
- Junkies of War By Uri Avnery (an Israeli Peace Activist & Author)
Every day on their TV screens tens of millions of Arabs and hundred of millions of Muslims see the atrocious pictures of crushed babies, the sights of the horrible destruction. These are deeply imprinted in the consciousness of the masses and will leave behind them an accumulation of anger and hatred that is far more dangerous than an arsenal of missiles.
- Osama Has Won By Brian Cloghley, Counterpunch
Hatred of the US is Now Universal.
- VIDEO: George Galloway - Hizbollah Is Not A Terrorist Organization
One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter
George Galloway has spoken out in support of Lebanon, saying he believes Hizbollah is justified in defending Lebanon against Israeli attacks . The Respect MP also lambasted media coverage of the war and said the UN resolution means nothing. - Al-mohar editor interview
- Israel responded to an unprovoked attack by Hizbullah, right? Wrong - By George Monbiot

Very nice. Now how about the other side?
Questions you might expect from the other side: If Israel has caused such damage to Lebanon, how come missiles are still flying into Israel? Is it just possible that the Hezbollah missiles are being fired from among.... civilians?
We will certainly agree that the Israeli bombing and incursion have hurt lots of innocent people... but despite what one reads, Israel has not done to Lebanon what Russia did to Grozny or Syria did to the city of Hama. Why not?
How many missiles did Hezbollah get from Syria and Iran? How long have they been stored, waiting for a chance to be deployed?
Good questions, Mickey. Let the debate begin....
