Commerce, Treasury Funds Helped Boost GOP Campaigns

More corruption, folks....

Marisa Taylor and Kevin G. Hall (McClatchy Newspapers) report:
"Top Commerce and Treasury Departments officials appeared with Republican candidates and doled out millions in federal money in battleground congressional districts and states after receiving White House political briefings detailing GOP election strategy.

Political appointees in the Treasury Department received at least 10 political briefings from July 2001 to August 2006, officials familiar with the meetings said. Their counterparts at the Commerce Department received at least four briefings — all in the election years of 2002, 2004 and 2006.

The House Oversight Committee is investigating whether the White House's political briefings to at least 15 agencies, including to the Justice Department, the General Services Administration and the State Department, violated a ban on the use of government resources for campaign activities...."
Thanks to Al B. for the heads up.

I respect the fact that the Dems at least are investigating what the Reps have been doing all these long years; however, I wish they would arrive at some conclusion and either censure or impeach or something all those who are being investigated and found or suspected to be criminally involved.
If crimes have not been committed then what and why are they investigating?
Am I being too impatient? or is it simply ludicrous to listen to Gonzalez, etal, lie repeatedly and nothing comes of it>

I have no respect for the Dems -- for exactly the reason you mention, Al: their investigations lead nowhere and have no consequences. The Democratic Congress is too slow to outrage over the administration's secrecy and lack of cooperation with their investigations.

I am sick and tired of Dem-led investigations which seem to be nothing more than a feeble attempt to solicit some positive PR for themselves with no intent (other than posturing statements in front of media cameras) to follow through with criminal charges, impeachment -- or even censure (the latter of which would be, in my opinion, another cop out.)

We must face the facts that the majority of Dems are complicit in administration actions -- whether out of fear or agreement.

Our system of government is irreparably broken. It seems it will take nothing less than a revolution to change it.
