Message to Congress: No More Compromises on Iraq, Impeachment

(Update One/5-12: See links at the end of this post)

"The Democratic-controlled House voted Thursday night to pay for military operations in Iraq on an installment plan, defying President Bush's threat of a second straight veto in a fierce test of wills over the unpopular war, " the AP reports.

The bill passed along party lines and is expected to get a cool reception in the Senate, "where Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., is seeking a compromise with the White House and Republicans."

I for one am sick and tired of the political maneuvering, the games, and the lack of leadership coming from Democrats like Reid and Pelosi. Whether it's ending the war or impeaching Bush & Company, they haven't a clue how to get it done -- or worse, they don't want to get it done.

Given the failure of the Democrats to deliver on their election promises, a huge opportunity presents itself to Republicans seeking reelection or the Presidency in 2008. if they were smart, they'd be mouthing off to the press at every opportunity that the Bush administration has and is failing the American people -- and the Republican party. They'd be putting a 2000-mile divide between themselves and everything the Bushies represent. They'd tell the American people that they will personally do everything in their power to restore our civil liberties and the rule of law, to end the military war in Iraq and solve the problem the only way it can be solved -- diplomatically. They would tell the American people that they have been bamboozled by a President who has lied, cheated, broken the law, and failed to uphold his oath to the Constitution of the United States. They would tell the American people that Bush and his administration must be removed before they do more damage to our country and to our position in the international community. And then, they would lead the way -- beating the Democrats at their own game -- to impeach Bush, Cheney, Rove, et al.

I ask you, how does any Republican in his right mind think that they can be elected by supporting the policies of BushCo? They are either all popping the same idiot pills or they have all collectively lost their minds in the Alternate Universe of BushWorld -- or they support the Bush neo-con fascist agenda.

So where are the Democrats' heads, besides up their collective arses? Why are they not trying to make the point to their Republican cohorts that, by sticking with the War and the President, they are digging their own graves? And that be cooperating with the Democratic leadership to get our troops out of Iraq and hold the administration accountable for their abuses of power, they will earn the respect of the majority of disillusioned Americans whose views are so obviously reflected in poll after poll. Obviously, if they did convince the Republicans to cooperate, their own Democratic Party majority would be in jeopardy. So they keep playing their games and posturing and pontificating in front of cameras and dead-head, White-House-talking-point pundits about how their failure to accomplish just about anything meaningful is everyone's fault but their own. Not.

It's games as usual. Politics as usual. My job before my duty. My livelihood before your life.

Our government leaders -- with few, few, exceptions -- have become shams and shills, criminal in their abandonment of our Consititution and the principles upon which this country was founded. They don't deserve to serve another minute, much less another term.

I suggest we all let them know how we feel, folks. If you are as fed up and angry as I am, let your representatives know -- loud and clear -- that until they begin impeachment proceedings and get our troops safely out of Iraq -- their days are numbered.

< sigh > i couldn't agree more... a am already being besieged by dem presidential candidates asking for my support (read: $$), and, quite honestly, i am writing every single one of them back and telling them that if they don't speak up VERY LOUDLY about the criminal cabal that's taken control of our republic, they won't stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting my vote...

Ditto. I just blew my stack at some woman from the DCCC who called asking for a $100 donation. I basically gave her a short version of this post. She seemed dumb-founded, attempted to tell me the Dems were doing everything they could to stop the war. I rudely interrupted her and told her, "not so" and why. She was literally speechless, and so went back to (obviously) reading her "script" as if she never heard a word that I had said. Unbelievable.

The Dems like the Reps are not and probably have never been ruled by the people whom they supposedly represent; their masters are, as Nader has long railed, the Masters of the Universe: the corporate lords and the MIC and anyone with enough money and power to buy their allegiance.
I.F.Stone said "Governments lie." add to that: "Politicians are corrupt."
This won't end until the people end it; peacefully, hopefully.

You can mention that sentiment while you urge your elected representatives to impeach the Vice President. Over 35,000 other real Americans already have. See:
